MERCURY Music Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Ian McNabb will bring his extensive back catalogue to Knutsford in a Brook Street Club gig later this month.

One of the great songwriters to emerge from the 1980s Liverpool music scene, Ian was the founder and frontman of The Icicle Works – famous for UK and US hits ‘Love is a Wonderful Colour’ and ‘Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly)’.

While still touring with the band either side of a hiatus, Ian has gone on to enjoy a critically-acclaimed solo career, performing with Ringo Starr, Neil Young, Mike Scott of The Waterboys, and more.

He also worked with Ian Broudie on his group project, The Lightning Seeds, as a writer and backing vocalist.

He will take to the Brook Street Club stage on Saturday, January 27.

A spokesman for the venue said: “Ian continues to write stunning songs with warmth, humour, cynicism and grandeur, and is currently working on his twelfth studio album.

Star Smile Strong, his eleventh studio album, was released in April 2017.

“With so much material you can see why his solo shows are a full two hours, and in this small and acoustically excellent venue this promises to be one of the musical treats of the year.”
