TRAIN usage figures at Knutsford station have again risen this year, climbing by more than 2,500 on the previous 12 months.
513,422 passengers travelled to and from Knutsford in the 2016/17 period, compared to 510,840 in 2015/16 and less than 500,000 the year before.
The station, on the line from Manchester to Chester, was due to benefit from two trains per hour compared to the current one from this month, but timetable changes have been put back and will now be implemented in May 2018.
The changes will also see one train per hour on Sundays across the whole Mid Cheshire Line.
Mobberley station saw a drop in usage numbers, from 20,686 in 2015/16 to 18,702 this year, while Ashley saw an increase from to 8,680 from 7,578.
Goostrey station's figures rose by just over 8,000 between 2015/16 to 2016/17, from 42,852 to 50,892. Holmes Chapel climbed to 199,748 from 173,738
Meanwhile, 2016/17 saw 4,241,292 entries and exits at Manchester Airport's station compared to 3,632,308 over the previous 12 months. Manchester's busiest station, Piccadilly, saw numbers climb to 27,807,063 from 25,792,700.
