A CHEF at a Knutsford pub is set for a trip to Westminster in the hopes of picking up a parliamentary award.

Jon Kerr, of The Old Sessions House, has been nominated by Tatton MP Esther McVey for the 2017/18 Parliamentary Pub Chef of the Year award.

Run by the British Beer and Pub Association, and sponsored by Nestle, the awards will be presented at the House of Commons in February. Entrants will be judged by an expert panel, who will shortlist contenders for the cook-off where they will display their skills to organisers.

Jon said: “When the boss told me that Esther McVey had nominated me for the parliamentary pub chef of the year award, I was overwhelmed and felt that all the many years of challenging work I have put into this industry were finally being rewarded.

“At TOSH we only use the finest, fresh, locally sourced ingredients and the positive feedback we receive from our guests are so satisfying that they clearly recognise the care with which we produce all our food.”

Esther said: “When I was asked to nominate a ‘Pub Chef of the Year’, I instantly thought of TOSH in Knutsford, and Jon Kerr is a great chef who deserves to be recognised.

“Working incredibly hard to serve tasty food and with a big emphasis on promoting local produce, he is an asset to the pub and local area.

“Always with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, TOSH is a well-known local favourite in the town. I’m wishing Jon Kerr and all the team at TOSH the best of luck."
