A KNUTSFORD Lions initiative to reduce fuel debt in the town is entering its third year.

Project Wenceslas, launched in 2015 along with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau and Great Places Housing Group, has helped many families keep warm in winter through donations from elderly residents who don’t feel they need all of their Winter Fuel Allowance.

As well as surplus allowances, the Lions encourage donations from anyone else who would like to support the scheme.

Lions member Peter Willgoose said: “Donations are ring-fenced and payments made direct to the utility accounts of the affected households as identified by the CAB or Great Places, thus ensuring that all the money is used for the purpose for which it was intended.

“We are delighted that the scheme has proved to be so successful thanks to the many generous donations received over the last two years.”

Donations can be made via knutsfordlions.org.uk or by cheque made payable to ‘Knutsford Lions Charity Account’, marked ‘Project Wenceslas’ on the back and sent to Knutsford Lions c/o Peter Willgoose, Chestnut Cottage, Tabley Road, Knutsford WA16 0NE. Call Peter on 01565 631255
