SANTA Claus is coming to town – and he'll be taking a trip down the Weaver again.

Anderton Boat Lift is giving families the chance to take a cruise along the river with Father Christmas, as he swaps his sleigh for a boat next month – until Christmas Eve, of course.

Youngsters will get the chance to talk to the man himself, while taking in the picturesque surroundings by the Weaver.

Graham Wood, duty manager at Anderton Boat Lift, is looking forward to welcoming Santa to Northwich.

"Both staff and visitors love the Santa cruises," he said.

"There is something very special about seeing the look of pure delight and wonder in children’s faces as they realise that they are not only seeing Santa but going on a boat too.

"It is something really different and so much more memorable than what is available elsewhere.

"It promises to be a day that creates a wonderful childhood memory."

The trips will take place every weekend during December until Christmas Eve, as well as on Thursday, December 21, and Friday, December 22, while additional dates can be added for nurseries and school groups.

Each cruise will feature games, songs and stories with Santa, while children can also enjoy the Boat Lift's new £50,000 play area.

Tickets cost £5.95 for adults and £7.95 for children, who will receive a present from Santa during the cruise.

Pre-booking is recommended at visitchester.digitickets.co.uk or by calling 01606 786777.
