A NEW hall extension at Holmes Chapel Primary School has opened with a bang, as a company of Zulu warriors put on a show.
Children and staff at the school in Middlewich Road celebrated the opening with an exciting and vibrant performance by The Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company last week.
The children were treated to an African-themed song and dance showcase compilation, followed by workshops exploring rhythms, songs and dance routines.
An evening performance for parents rounded off an exhilarating day, which provided a memorable experience for all involved.
Head teacher Helen Scott said: “We are thrilled to have a magnificent new hall, large enough for whole school assemblies and performances, as well as having the capacity to host stimulating events like the Zulu Warriors which provide opportunities to enhance the curriculum for all our children.”
The eye-catching Zulu experience also deals with geographical, historical and social aspects of the nation’s past, demonstrating the significance of dance and song as part of tradition.
It has gained praise for promoting racial equality, citizenship and a cross-curricular cultural experience.
