THE 1st Holmes Chapel Dane Cub Pack have celebrated the life of the late Scott Penlington by naming their new 'Cub of the Year' trophy in his memory.
Scott, who was tragically killed last year in a light aircraft accident, had been an active member of the village Scouts as a boy, and the group was keen to remember his achievements.
The trophy was designed by a group of Cubs working with Scott's Akela, Ian Mitchell, and specially carved of wood by Will Burnham, a leader at the Scout group.
On Tuesday, September 12, the Cubs in Dane Pack, along with leaders and Beavers from Beech colony, came together with Scott's parents Pam and Graham for the award ceremony.
Akela Alison Wright and Akela Ian Mitchell presented the Scott Penlington Trophy to the well-deserving Cub of the Year, Harry Amery-Wilkinson.
Ian said: “I remember Scott as a Cub with boundless energy, who was gregarious, adventurous, and with a heart of gold. He will always be remembered fondly by 1st Holmes Chapel Scout Group as an example of a real Cub.”
