RESIDENTS living off a busy main road have taken advantage of a road closure to find a new setting for afternoon tea.
Guardian reader Marjorie Clarke has lived at The Cottage near Jodrell Bank since 1958, and has used the 33-day A535 closure to have a brew in the quiet carriageway.
However, it’s not all fun and games for residents. The closure was instated on July 31 and is in place between Bridge Lane and the observatory staff entrance, near Farm Lane.
A number of HGVs have become stuck at the road closure, unable to easily turn around on the two-lane carriageway.
A Cheshire East Council spokesman said: “The closure is necessary to enable CEC Highways to carry out bridge parapet repairs.”
