PUPILS at Manor Park Primary School were the stars of a special graduation ceremony at Tatton Park, celebrating the end of a project offering a range of work experience opportunities.
Year 5 and 6 students were given the chance to be airport firefighters and park rangers during the annual ‘My World’ project, and threw their mortar boards into the air last week.
Run by Manchester-based company OpenDoors2 and partnered with Great Places Housing Group, Cheshire East Council, de Poel, Tatton Park, Barclays, Bruntwood and Manchester Airport, My World aims to raise children’s aspirations, confidence and presentation skills.
Lucy Barton, Great Places community development co-ordinator, said: “Once again, the My World project has proved itself to be a fantastic opportunity for local children.
“The pupils really impressed with their presentations, and it was evident how much they have all taken away from the experience.
“It is vital that we give children confidence to get into the world of work, and show them how many opportunities are out there.”
The graduation ceremony saw the children put on a showcase presentation of had learned to their family and friends at Tenants Hall.
Guests included David Briggs, Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Knutsford mayor Cllr Neil Forbes, and CEC mayor Cllr Arthur Moran.
