UNITED Utilities says that work to repair a collapsed sewer in Mobberley Road has been completed.
The road closure was announced on Thursday, June 8, and came into force the following day, with traffic on surrounding roads and diversions causing problems at peak times on Friday and again this morning, Monday.
The company is currently packing up and leaving the site, between Church Mews and Thorneyholme Drive, although it is not responsible for reopening the road.
A spokesman said: "The sewer collapse work has been completed and we are moving off-site now. The road should be opened again soon."
Initial reports from the company and roadworks information providers suggested that the work could have taken up to 14 days to complete.
Diverted traffic had caused problems for Manor Park and St Vincent's primary schools at rush hour.
