ROYAL May Queen Charlotte James was lost for words after being crowned on Saturday.

Knutsford Academy student Charlotte, 14, joined the Knutsford Royal May Day procession along with more than 600 young characters before the coronation ceremony on The Heath.

This year marked the tenth Charlotte had been involved in the event, having first taken part aged four and been involved in the court over the past two years.

She said: “I can’t put into words how I’m feeling. It’s amazing – I’m really happy.

“It’s been really exciting over the last few weeks. It felt amazing on the way round, waving at everyone and seeing everyone smiling.

“I have loved all of it. It’s a community day, and the procession is just great.”

Despite the clouds on the day, the threat of rain never arrived and the procession route along Toft Road, King Street, Princess Street, King Edward Road and Manchester Road was lined with onlookers.
