COMMUNITY groups in Knutsford and Wilmslow are again being invited to apply for grants of up to £500.

Equilibrium Asset Management, in Handforth, has reopened its community support scheme, which has awarded £9,300 to groups so far since 2015.

The scheme aims to support charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations which either help disadvantaged people, promote sport and the arts, support education and development or benefit the environment.

Founder Colin Lawson said: “Ever since introducing the Community Support Scheme in 2015, we have taken great pride in being able to support the incredible work done by so many different organisations in east Cheshire.

“We have a number of different grants available in what is the second round of the 2017 scheme.

“We hope that plenty of applications will be submitted, and organisations that subsequently win funding will be able to use it for the benefit of the communities they serve.”

The scheme is one of a number of initiatives Equilibrium runs as part of its charitable foundation, which aims to raise £250,000 for local charities by 2020.

Winners in round one of the 2017 scheme, which ran between January and April, included The Oakmere Singers Association, in Handforth.

Applications are reviewed quarterly, with grants awarded ranging from £100 to £500. The scheme only considers applications from groups whose work benefits the local community.

Projects that promote party political activities or religious causes, projects that benefit or involve animals and commercial enterprises are not accepted.
