KNUTSFORD Heritage Centre enjoyed a well-attended annual meeting last week, where it was announced that the centre is making good progress towards achieving museum status.
The meeting, which included a talk on family history by Joan Irving, librarian of the Family History Society of Cheshire, also introduced two newly-appointed trustees, Claire Woodruff and George Williams.
Chairman Christopher Henretty said that 2016 had been extremely busy with Canute millenial events.
He said: “The Knutsford Millennium Tapestry continues to draw a steady stream of visitors from across the UK and abroad.
“In doing so, the tapestry is a significant contributor to Knutsford as a tourism and leisure destination, to the direct benefit of the town’s shops, restaurants and similar establishments.
"That is exactly as it should be, because of course the Heritage Centre ultimately belongs to the people and businesses of Knutsford.”
