A CHILDREN’S charity is calling on kind-hearted people to take part in their 2017 fundraising adventure.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, in Reddy Lane, Millington, is encouraging people to join their Challenge Community and sign up to one of their pre-organised challenge events to raise money.

CAFT already has an extensive programme of 26 event planned for 2017 to help raise vital funds to provide disadvantaged and disabled children with holiday experiences.

Jure Modic, challenges co-ordinator for CAFT, said: “We estimate that the number of people who have taken part in a challenge event for our charity is in the hundreds, with thousands of pounds raised.

“We have challenges both here in the UK and overseas, in fact the overseas events prove to be the most popular with over 300 people participating over the last 11 years with over £460,000 raised.”

This year offers a varied list of challenges from the Manchester 10k through to tandem skydives, a bike ride to Brussels, night time hike up Mount Snowdon, mountain climbing in Slovenia and trekking in Peru.

Jure added: “Taking part in a challenge is a great way of raising money for our very worthy cause, but also a fantastic motivator to get fit. We’ve had people join us for a 10k run who have then been bitten by the fitness bug and have gone onto compete in marathons, trekking events and cycling challenges.

“We regularly see participants forming their own social groups when training for events, and many find that a challenge improves not only their fitness but also their social circle.”

Participants can join as individuals, friends, couples or teams from a company. There are many ways people can get involved in fundraising and CAFT encourages suggestions for new events. It provides support for participants helping with fundraising ideas, training, kit advice and ‘moral support’.
