MOBBERLEY Victory Hall has been granted £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to modernise.

The Mobberley Victory Project, which was awarded the money, intends to re-site and install fully accessible toilets to improve access for socially isolated people in the area.

Work is now set to begin on designing the new facilities.

Sarah Sherwood, Mobberley Parish Council clerk, said: “The hall was built in 1921 and it needs a lot of work to bring it up to modern standards, including building disabled toilets.

“We want to make it more useable for all the visitors who come to the hall, and there is a lot of work still to be done.”

Sharron Pennington, of Mobberley Pre-School, believes disabled toilets will be a valuable asset for the building.

She said: “The facility would be a great benefit to the community, and particularly for us as there will also be baby changing facilities in there.

“It will make a hell of a difference – if anybody who requires disabled toilets comes to the hall they will be able to use them.”

The project is one 117 which has received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund in the North West.

The Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out 40% of money raised by the National Lottery, and has awarded £9billion to community projects since June 2004.
