EQUESTRIAN enthusiasts are preparing to head to Tabley House for one of the biggest events in their calendar.

The Warrington Horse Show - which moved to Knutsford three years ago - attracts nearly 6,000 visitors and riders ever year. Many are families simply looking for a great day out.

“Last year we had 1,500 riders across the classes and we expect the same again in 2016,” said show chairman Liz Sutton.

”Since we moved to Tabley House the event has continued to go from strength to strength and it remains one of the highlights in the equestrian calendar.”

Competitors from across the country will be trying to qualify for the Horse of the Year Show and the Royal International Horse Show later this year.

However, the Knutsford contest is unique because it offers classes for all levels as well as a variety of breeds from mighty shires to miniature horses.

There will be spectacular national and international show jumping competitions, extensive showing classes and enthralling displays.

“The quality of the show jumpers and horses is so great that the untrained eye will be able to appreciate the skill that is on display,” said Liz, who owns Delamere Dairy in Knutsford.

As well as top showing and competition the Warrington Horse Show will also offer family entertainment including circus skills workshops, farmers’ market, delicious refreshments and catering.

Families will enjoy the donkey rides and all of this will be happening to the sound of a jazz band.

“We organise the event in such a way as to offer a breadth and variety that will appeal to everyone,” said Liz.

“The show offers entertainment for the family whether you’re competing, supporting a rider or simply want a great family day out.”

The Warrington Horse Show is on May 30 from 9am. Admission prices are £10 for adults and £5 for children.
