WILMSLOW Prep School is celebrating another year of success for Form 6 in their senior school examination results, including two sports scholarships and one music scholarship.

Form 6 pupils sat examinations for a wide range of Manchester Consortium Schools including Alderley Edge School for Girls, Withington, Kings, Manchester High, Cheadle Hulme and Stockport Grammar School.

The results were excellent, with an average of more than three offers per child sitting exams, and bears testament to the quality of education at the school and much hard work on the part of the children.

Headteacher Helen Rigby said: “All of the children in Form 6 have secured places at senior schools of their choice and it goes without saying, we are incredibly proud of them and their success is richly deserved."

Every year, pupils in Form 5 and 6 at Wilmslow Prep School take part in the English Speaking Board (ESB) exams.

The exam requires each pupil to perform three tasks in front of an examiner which includes giving a talk on a subject of their choice, reading a passage from a book of their choice, and learning and performing a poem.

After choosing their poems and passages, the children have opportunities to practise during speech and drama lessons in school, ensuring confidence in their public speaking skills.

This year proved to be an exceptional year with every pupil passing with flying colours.

Many achieved distinction in the exam, including all children in Form 5.

Jude Hughes, Form 6 Teacher and KS2 Speech and Drama teacher, said: “School life is busy at Wilmslow Prep and what really delights us here is that, as well as studying hard, the children are all actively involved in a wide range of activities including drama, music, art and sports. Well done everyone!”
