A NEW bedroom extension at Cottons Hotel & Spa, in Knutsford, may have only been open a few months but it’s already been nominated for an award.

It has been put forward for 'Best Commercial Building' in the 2016 North West Regional LABC Building Excellence Awards after catching the eye of building surveyors.

In the last 12 months around £3.5million has been invested in 30 new bedrooms and upgrading a further 30 rooms at the hotel, which is part of Daniel Thwaites’ Shire Hotels portfolio.

Guests can now enjoy a more modern look and feel with a stylish new design and Operations Director, Chris Hill, says feedback is already positive.

“It’s the biggest renovation for many years and we’re thrilled with the results," Chris said.

"It’s made a massive difference to the look and feel of the hotel and we’ve had no end of positive comments, as the upgrade has provided guests with added comfort and space.”

The investment has seen the creation of 24 'Signature Rooms' and six 'Premier Suites', allowing the hotel to welcome even more business.

Chris added: “The hotel is always in great demand so this is a really positive step forward. It’s a fantastic improvement and the hotel looks much better.

“The artwork is particularly striking as it’s all been commissioned by the hotel and feature local landmarks such as Tatton Park, Jodrell Bank and Knutsford."

Alongside the new rooms, which all have extra comfy beds, mattress toppers, luxurious quilts and a choice of pillows to help with a good night’s sleep, 30 existing rooms have been given a facelift. Redecoration, new carpets and curtains have given the rooms a contemporary new look.

Improvements have also been made outside the building, with another entrance added to the hotel and the creation of 32 extra car parking spaces.
