TWELVE-year-old Charlotte Harvey will go one step further than her two older sisters when she is crowned this year's Goostrey Rose Queen.

Charlotte's sisters have both been Rose Queen Attendants in the past but on Saturday, June 25 she will take the starring role.

Charlotte's eldest sister Emma was an attendant in 2011 and elder sister Laura was in the support role three years ago.

Charlotte, who lives in New Platt Lane Goostrey, will have four attendants: Abigail Crooke; Abbie Groves; Hazel Kemsley and Jessica McCandless,

The Rose Bud Queen will be Georgia Davies and her lady in waiting is Heidi Wilkinson.

There will be three attendants: Martha Bairstow; Lucy Boardman and Elliana Nasry.

This year’s Rose Day President will be Terry Price who has had a life-long connection with the festival, first appearing in the procession when he was just four years old.

His mother May Price, nee Newton was Rose Queen in 1927 and Terry was crown bearer in 1959 when Annette Smallwood was crowned Queen.

For the past 12 years he has been on the Goostrey Gooseberry Society Float taking part in the procession over the last 12 years.

Christina Burgess, chair of the Rose Day committee, said: "Rose Day, which dates back well over 100 years, is a very special occasion for the village of Goostrey and so we are delighted that, yet again, so many young girls want to be involved.

"I am sure Charlotte and all her attendants will have a day they will remember for a very long time and we are delighted that Terry Price, who has been associated with Rose Day for so many years, has agreed to be our President.”
