THE owners of a plant hire business in Ashley have been targeted by vandals who placed nails and objects on a road in a bid to damage vehicles owned by the firm.

Knutsford Police said it was investigating the incident, which happened on Friday, February 22.

Employees from Ashley Plant Hire and Reclamation Limited on Brickhill Lane in the village found the objects on the road after two tyres were damaged.

They then called the police.

Lizzie Kirk from the firm told the Guardian it was obvious the items were homemade.

"They were big long nails that had been stuck together," she said.

"The nails were wrapped up and then set in resin.

"There were copper pipes as well with nails attached and they were 100 per cent definitely home made.

"They were scattered all across the road. We picked them up so we phoned the police and they came down and they had a good look.

"We had two punctures and had to buy a new tyre as well.

"It's the first time this has happened, we have our suspicions who it is but we can't prove it."
