HORSESHOES are on the shopping list for Mid Cheshire Riding for the Disabled after it received a share of a £25,000 fund from estate agent Gascoigne Halman.

The money has come from the firm’s Community Challenge fund, which will benefit 26 local organisations.

News of the £25,000 boost for local groups comes as Gascoigne Halman’s 25th anniversary draws to a close.

Mid Cheshire Riding for the Disabled is based in Ollerton, and the charity received funding which has enabled it to pay for a year’s supply of horseshoes for all the horses in its care.

This charity began more than 40 years ago, and provides riding lessons for 100 disabled members who otherwise wouldn’t have access to such a local service.

The interaction with the horses provides the riders, aged five and upwards, with exercise, education and enjoyment.

The charity relies on more than 60 volunteers, many of who have been recognised with a long service award, including a number passing the 30-year mark.

The charity’s organiser, Jeanette Dixon said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous donation.

“This will allow us to fund a year’s supply of horseshoes and foot trimming, which is extremely important to ensure the welfare of the horses and the safety of our riders.”

Gascoigne Halman celebrated its 25th anniversary by setting up a £25,000 fund to support local causes.

The aim was to select charities and community groups which create a positive impact on the community while providing long-term benefits for the area.

The charities which received donations from the Community Challenge are as follows.

Activity in Retirement, Brook Street Chapel, Burnage Healthy Living Group, Chelwood Church Food Bank, Dementia Friendly Heatons, Friends of Memorial Park.
