ONE of Knutsford’s newest businesses has scooped the coveted Christmas window award this year.
Staff at The White Orchid Floral Boutique on King Street were surprised to bag the best window award for 2015, in the shops first year of trading in the town.
FESTIVE displays have lit up the streets in the past few weeks from businesses keen to take part in this year’s contest.
Every year Knutsford Town Mayor visits each business to judge first, second and third place and give out other awards to the runners up.
Cllr Tony Dean, Mayor of Knutsford, said: “There was a phenomenal effort from the retailers again this year with a multitude of stunning Christmas displays.
“Congratulations not just to the winners, but to all shops who took the time to add some extra festive cheer to the town.”
Thrilled White Orchid staff immediately took to Twitter to express their pride at winning in their first year in Knutsford, saying: “Wow, we didn’t know this was happening. We were very surprised, it’s our first year in Knutsford and we are so proud.”
In second place was La Belle Époque followed by Edith and Winston in third place. Edith and Winston is having a successful year having already been voted the ‘Best Bridalwear’ at this year’s national plus size awards.
Two ‘highly-commended’ awards were also handed out to impressive displays from King Street participants Nicholas Austen and Terrence Paul.
The winner of the Charity Shop category was CAFT.
