THE latest addition to Knutsford’s nightlife scene has now opened its doors on Princess Street offering stylish cocktails and ‘pizzettas’ to the public.

The Bronx Bar, which is owned by restaurant tycoons Paul Newman and David Mooney, is designed on the New York suburbs with re-designed classic cocktails and a menu of 14 smaller sized pizzas.

The bar, which is licensed until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights, is designed to attract people from across Knutsford and the surrounding areas.

Paul said: “I nearly texted the designer to say ‘I love you’ when I saw it. The place is just exactly what we wanted. When the lights are on the music is playing it is phenomenal.

“When I last checked TripAdvisor there was 88 restaurants. We wanted to create a sector in the market where people can just come down for a drink, not just to dine.’

“This gives people another option when they come out of Old Sessions House. They can come out of here and head to the Bronx until 3am.”

Dave added: “In my 36 years in Knutsford, I have never known anything like it. It is so exciting, it is a new look and a new trading style. Our cocktail list is our unique selling point.

“With each of our venues we bring a little twist of something fresh and exciting and we believe with Bronx we’ve done just that.”

The cocktail list, developed by the ‘mixology’ team led by New Moon’s executive bar manager Tom Higham, offers customers a choice of 13 cocktails.

“I don’t like the phrase ‘twist on a classic’,” he said. “If you’re twisting a classic it’s not a classic. Instead we are adding a few extra layers to classic cocktails.

“We have premium ingredients and a small menu of very unique drinks.”

The site has been designed by DV8 designs with the idea of having a ‘down and dirty’ feel like the Bronx suburbs.

Upstairs includes a section called ‘The Zoo’, which opens from 10pm and reservations are not required, although guests can reserve bar tables to guarantee a seated area.

The Bronx is closed on Monday and Tuesday but open every other weekday from 5pm and at weekends from 12pm until late.
