KNUTSFORD Town Council is anticipating the biggest Lantern Parade to date, featuring specialist lantern makers and a brass band for 2015.

The parade will take place on Saturday December 5, setting off from St Cross Church at 5pm before proceeding through the Barncroft and Moor before making its way through the town centre, Music will be provided by the City of Chester Brass Band and there will be moon and star lanterns provided by Handmade Parade, a team of professional artists, puppeteers and performers.

“We are really excited about the additions to this year’s parade which have been added following feedback from those who took part last year,” said Lisa Benskin, deputy town clerk.

“The feature lanterns will add a real wow factor and we would love to see more families taking part and letting their imaginations run wild when creating their lanterns as we have a prize kindly donated by Waterstones for the best lantern this year.”

Instructions on how to make a lantern are available on the Town Council website knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk/Christmas. Those wanting to take part should arrive at St Cross Church by 4.45pm.

A short road closure will be in place from 5pm to 6pm on King Street, Minshull Street, Tatton Street from the junction with Princess Street to the junction with Green Street, Canute Place and Princess Street.

The roads will re-open once the parade has passed reduce any disruption for residents and businesses.
