KNUTSFORD will be home to some extra glitz and glamour this week as a King Street hairdresser prepares for a Christmas charity event with pizazz.

Mark Boa, at Boa Hairdressing has organised a charity ‘red carpet’ night to raise money for Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support and the David Lewis Centre.

Amid the guest-list is Key 103 breakfast DJ, Mike Toolan, who will be presenting the raffle which has seen generous donations from businesses across Knutsford and Cheshire.

“This is the first event we have ever done,” said Mike. “It started as a pre-Christmas event, to show our guests how to do their hair over the Christmas period.

“Then we decided to start trying to get a few gifts. I didn’t realise how popular we are with the local traders. It is very humbling. I cannot believe how generous the businesses have been.”

Raffle tickets cost £10, and each one offers the owner the chance to win something from a huge range of gifts, from a meal for two at a Living Ventures restaurant to designer watches.

“It’s going to be fantastic,” said Mark. “We only started selling tickets on Saturday and there is £400 so far.

“There’s only so many people you can fit in a salon but we are hoping to get 400 people in here. I’m going to raise as much money as I can.”

Piccolino’s will be also be providing the food for the event.
