A SPECTACULAR day of horticultural delights are promised in Plumley and Lower and Upper Peover on Sunday, July 5.

The Open Gardens event will be held from 11am to 5pm, with the proceeds going to the Cheshire Wildlife Trusts, St Oswald's Church and other charities.

The event is organised by Peover Churches will see many of the local villagers opening up their gardens to members of the public with entry costing £6 in advance and £8 on the day, which will include a map of the gardens.

One of the organiser's David Thompson said: "The open garden scheme has been running for about eight years with most of the neighbours involved.

"There will also be a few scarecrows around, and in the time that we have been involved, it seems to get bigger and better each time. When we became involved a couple of years ago, we had 190 people come along, while the number visiting all the gardens has risen substantially to between 300 and 400 people.

Mr Thompson added: "There is quite a lot of work involved for the organisers and the villagers but we derive lots of pleasure showing off the work we have done to our gardens."

The day operates this year from The Plantation Garden Company, Plumley Moor Road, from which a park and ride scheme will operate.

Tickets are available from The Plantation Garden Company or by calling 01565 722153 or 01565 722597.
