KNUTSFORD Academy is celebrating after scooping two trophies at last week’s Cheshire Show.

The school walked away with first place for the best indoor trade stand and reserve champion, second place, for the best overall stand.

The award-winning stand boasted two interactive activities; ‘Flying High with Knutsford Academy’ which encouraged participants to hit a target with a self-designed paper aeroplane, and ‘Animal Creation’ where visitors could create and colour in their own farm animals.

On presenting the trophies, the judges commented that the stand was ‘fun’, ‘interactive’ and ‘informative’.

The stand was supported by both students and Academy staff.

Nicola Hall, head teacher at the Academy’s studio school, said: “We are thrilled to have won the trophies. We had a great couple of days at the Cheshire Show where we had the opportunity to talk to so many visitors and also current parents. Our students on the stands were great ambassadors for the Academy.”

As well as their own stand, Knutsford Academy students also supported the Cheshire East stand, where they demonstrated a wind turbine experiment.

The day was full of surprises, as on top of their awards, the students also received a visit from the Countess of Wessex.
