A WOMAN was arrested for a drug-related offence following an early morning raid on a Knutsford property today.

Acting on intelligence, officers executed a drugs warrant on a property on Shaw Drive and the Guardian were invited along to witness the raid in action.

The operation, organised by Sergeant Alison Howarth, saw the town’s police team, along with specialist units from other stations, enter the property using battering rams shortly after 8am.

After a search of the property, a 54-year-old woman was arrested with the possession of cannabis for personal use. Police issued her with a caution for the offence.

This is the second warrant executed by Knutsford NPU in the past week and is part of the force’s ongoing commitment to tackling illegal drugs in Knutsford and the surrounding area.

Sergeant Howarth said: “This is us responding to community intelligence, which is invaluable to us. The public when they are speaking to us, we know it’s difficult sometimes to show that we are listening to them, but every piece of information we get forms part of a wider picture and is vital.”

The Knutsford team were assisted by Special Constables, or specials are they are better known, who volunteered to come from stations further afield, such Wilmslow and Macclesfield, to help with the operation.

Special Constable Mark Slinger, from Wilmslow, said: “This is good experience for us – a warrant in an area such as this is not an everyday occasion. It is important for specials to get a diverse over view of the role and this kind of thing really helps develop them – and we always try to support colleagues in any way we can.”
