HUNDREDS descended upon a Mobberley farm at the weekend to enjoy an afternoon of fun, frolics and festive fayre.

Waugh Brow Farm, on Smith Lane, hosted a Christmas Open Afternoon for its farm shop and Box Clever Hampers on Saturday November 22.

The event proved such a success, with 500 people through the farm gates, that plans for next year’s festive open day are already underway – and a summer-time event is also in the pipeline.

Georgina Jones, director of The Box Hamper Clever Company, said: “The sun shone all afternoon, thank goodness, meaning our 'grown up' visitors could enjoy scrumptious seasonal tipples and yummy festive food, basking in the warm autumn sunlight.

“Our younger guests chatted with Santa in his grotto, petted the ponies, pointed at our piggies, counted our chickens, cooed at the calves, giggled at the goats and had endless fun in the field on the Rugolf driving range.

“We hope you all had a splendid time and will come back and visit our lovely farm shop again soon.”

Georgina thanked the stall holders who set up shop for the day and everyone who donated to their chosen charity, ‘Riding for the Disabled’.
