COMMUNITY heroes shone in the spotlight at the launch of the Knutsfordian II photographic exhibition earlier this month.

Hundreds flocked to the Old Town Hall from October 1 to 5, where 16 portraits by photographer Paul Warpole were unveiled to the public.

Organised by the promote Knutsford Forum (PKF), the exhibition featured a variety of faces – young, not so young, well known and not so well known.

Sarah Flannery, PKF member and Knutsford Hosts co-ordinator, said: “Hats off to PKF for this year’s The Knutsfordian II.

"I thought the theme of local community heroes resulted in a creative, rich and diverse display of portraits that highlighted so many town personalities – and really gave an insight into the person behind the role or job.

“Many Knutsford Hosts helped to man the exhibition and the reaction from visitors was absolutely fantastic.

“It was marvellous that one of the very first Hosts, Elenor McAndrew, was featured – alongside our very special honorary Host, David Briggs the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire.

“PKF exists to promote the town and this exhibition most certainly did just that."

Those who missed the exhibition at the Old Town Hall need not worry – there is a second chance to view the exhibition at The Tabley House Collection from tomorrow, October 16.

The Knutsfordian II will be housed in the Portico Room and Chapel and will be open from 1-5pm, Thursday to Sunday, until Friday October 31.

"We are delighted to host the exhibition at Tabley," said Gill Dent, Tabley House Collection administrator. "Entry is free, with access through the tea room.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the portraits again and reading the stories behind the people featured - I'm sure our visitors will be just as interested."

More than £260 was raised through an auction and donations at a launch event on October 1, which will be used by PKF to fund other initiatives to promote Knutsford.
