AN innovative arts trail around Goostrey proved a moving experience for scores of villagers as they visited 16 venues in and around the village.

Organised as part of Goosfest, the arts trail featured work by professional and semi-professional artists from across the north west exhibiting a range of art forms.

Festivalgoers were encouraged to get their arts trail “passport” stamped as they visited the locations, where they could view the art on display and talk to the artists.

The work included abstract paintings by Manchester-based Garry Foy, willow sculptures by Jane Foddy, glass mosaics by Patricia and Jessica Lee, chainsaw carvings by Tim Burgess and a photographic exhibition by Goosfest's official photographer Willie Dudgeon.

As part of the trail artwork by pupils from Goostrey school was on show at the station and a display of floral art was created by the Flower Club at St Luke’s Church, while members of Goostrey Children’s Art Club, including Erica Miznove, Leanne Smith, Jessica Hitchen, Laura and Charlotte Harvey, displayed their work at the home of local artist and club leader Katja Murta.

Local artists Judyann Ashley, Sherri Bloor and Lynda Fyfe exhibited their paintings at the school, while Alison Rose, from Main Road, opened her home to show her range of multi-media art.

The Chelford and North Cheshire Embroiders Guild exhibited at the Methodist Hall, whilst other artists taking part were Mark Sheeky, Seija Dudgeon, Mark Willcox Guile Smith, Dororthy Pickering and Anna Longshaw.

Goosfest got off on the right note thanks to Foden’s Brass Band which performed at Terra Nova School on Friday evening.

Other weekend events included a renaissance concert by early music ensemble Piva, former Fleet Street journalist Geri Parlby gave a talk entitled “Shock! Horror! Probe! The art and artifice of Fleet Street” and Keith Hearnshaw played an organ recital at St Luke’s Church on Sunday.

Goosfest continues until Sunday when Hazel O’Connor headlines the festival with a performance at Terra Nova School.
