EMPLOYEES from Knutsford Wine Bar endured 12 miles of mud and mayhem on September 14 for a charity close to their hearts.

The King Street bar team entered the gruelling Tough Mudder Challenge at Cholmondeley Castle last Sunday to raise funds for Adoption Matters.

Raising more than £600, they had to face ‘the toughest challenge on the planet’ – a 12-mile obstacle course designed to push strength, stamina, teamwork and mental grit to the limit.

Liam Ward, manager of Knutsford Wine Bar, said: “It was a lot harder than we had expected, at times we wanted to give up, but the team all pulled together to get each other through as Adoption Matters is a charity close to our hearts.

“Many of the team have a connection to adoption, whether through a family member or a personal experience. Adoption Matters really brought to light the life-changing effects adoption has and we knew how much money raised through completing Tough Mudder would improve children’s lives for the better.

“It was our motivation to keep going.”

Adoption Matters has been working for 60 years with a wide range of adopters and potential adopters from across the North West and beyond, offering children a chance to find a new family.

Norman Goodwin, chief executive of Adoption Matters, said: “We’d like to say thank you to Liam and the team at Knutsford Wine Bar for choosing to raise money for us.”
