FAMILIES from Knutsford and beyond descended on the Moor last week for a day of fun and frolics.

The National Play Day, an annual event organised by the Friends of the Moor (FOTM), took place on Wednesday August 6.

The free event had an array of attractions on offer, including storytelling by Knutsford Library, barn owls from The Moss Wood, rocket launching and giant bubbles by the Sci Bar, face-painting, and a variety of games.

Friends of the Moor Chairman Vivien Davies said: “The weather was perfect for the afternoon and, due to a large number of parents and children attending, the event was a great success.

“The event was also successful because of the time and effort voluntarily given by the people providing the stalls and the free entertainment of the children.”

The Friends of the Moor thanked Knutsford Town Mayor Neil Forbes for opening the event, accompanied by Mayoress Jacquelyn Forbes.

The group also thanked PCSO Jenny Regan for attending with a police car, Jon Woolley and fire crew for the engine visit, The Lions, Jane Cartmel, Cherry Robertson, Dave Thompson, helpers from the Sci Bar, The Knutsford Library staff and The First Responders.

Thanks was also given to facepainter Tara Raven, Ray Jackson, Lower Moss Wood, Mr Simms, the Scouts, CEC staff Marianne Hodgkinson and Keith Rodgers, and FOTM members who helped on the day.

Litter picks are done before and after the event, and a certificate was found for a Madeleine. To claim the certificate call 01565 751078.
