POLICE are warning residents to be vigilant after a Royal Mail postbox was stolen, and another vandalised, in the villages surrounding Knutsford last week.
Residents alerted police after discovering the postbox on Broad Oak Lane, Mobberley, was missing. It is believed the postbox was stolen on April 28 or 29.
Police are aware of another incident where a postbox was tampered with, but not removed, in nearby village Over Peover.
The incident, which also took place earlier last week, involved the postbox on Long Lane.
Sgt Rob Simpson said: “We ask the public to be vigilant. If anyone notices any damage or if the postbox is no longer there, get in touch right away.”
Royal Mail confirmed its company has not removed or tampered with the postboxes in question.
If you notice anything suspicious contact the police on 101.
