DANE Cub Pack bookworms paid a visit to a Holmes Chapel retirement village to share with residents their latest badge success.
Cubs were recently awarded their Bookreader Badge and visited Bernard Court residents to fill them in on the details of the six books they had to read – The Wimpy Kid, Harry Potter, The Twits, The BFG, The Folk of the Faraway Tree and Finding Nemo.
Cubs also retold the products of their imaginary Storytelling Hike around the village – each group was given two famous characters and had to create an imaginary story using these characters as they followed a route around the village, using landmarks and compass bearings.
Booklets containing these stories are now being sold to raise money towards the cubs’ new climbing wall project.
All 36 cubs were awarded their Bookreader Badge after being tested on their knowledge of their books, how to care for books, how to use a dictionary and atlas and how to find books in a library.
