TWO Knutsford friends will be tackling Hadrian’s Wall this Spring to raise funds for charity.

Vicky Rogers and Melanie Townley are currently training to take part in The Eve Appeal’s first ever 26.2 mile UK Trekathon along Hadrian’s Wall – a marathon going up hill, all in a day.

The event take place on Saturday, May 10 for this charity, which undertakes and funds gynaecological cancer research and aims to boost awareness of the disease.

Melanie told the Guardian: “We wanted to do something that we hadn't done before, was very challenging but achievable and also that we could fit in around our busy family lives.

“The Eve Appeal's Trekathon seemed to fit the bill. Obviously it's a worthwhile charity and some of our friends have since told us that they have had family members that have been directly affected by gynaecological cancers.

“ Walking that sort of distance in a matter of a few hours will be a challenge but hopefully we will get a lot out of the experience. The event is the weekend after the May Day celebrations.”

Vicky and Melanie are hosting ‘Make Time for Tea’ events on March 20 between 10am and 12pm to raise funds towards their Trekathon.

Robert Marsh, chief executive of The Eve Appeal, said: “We are really grateful to Vicky and Melanie for this superb support – events like this are so important in spreading the word and raising awareness of gynaecological cancers whilst at the same time raising vital funds for this fundamentally important research.”

The pair would like to thank Roberta Beauty Redefined for donating her time to offer mini beauty treatments and ‘Mummy bakes – Gluten Free not Goody Free’ for attending the event on March 20 at Tabley Close, between 10am and noon, and also to all their friends who are kindly baking for these tea parties.
