GOOSTREY WI reached a landmark when they held their 1,000th meeting in January.

Members dressed in their finery, many wearing hats and fascinators.

The speaker for the evening was Katie Percival of Kinderton Hats with her topic being ‘Hats’.

She explained how to hand-make a hat and showed how they can be transformed by changing the adornment. She sells and hires out hats and customises them to suit an outfit. She was thanked by Gill Buxton.

Members brought a plate of their favourite finger food to share and were amazed at the wide variety. Mary Hooley, the longest-serving member, donated a celebration cake which was cut by president, Marilyn Lloyd, accompanied by six past presidents.

The competition, ‘a fascinator’, was won by Sue Leicester. Olive Gosling won the raffle.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, February 19 at 7.30pm at Goostrey Village Hall. Visitors are very welcome.
