THE Lions Senior Citizens Variety Show (SCVS) will be making its musical return to town on February 1.

The annual show, which has been running since 1978, will this year see a change in venue and will take place at the Methodist Church on Princess Street.

Three live acts will be entertaining the crowds at the Saturday afternoon show, which will kick off at 2pm.

Harpist Margaret Knight will be making a return visit, coming all the way from the Isle of Skye; husband and wife duo from Knutsford, Alan and Joan Dean, will be performing songs from the shows and young freelance composer from Knutsford, Ste Miller, will take to the stage to play some of his own compositions.

Frances Miller, President of Knutsford and District Lions Club, said: “The variety show is much anticipated as it is a live performance by a range of musicians of all ages and the audience enjoy the variety format.

“The attendance over the years has been around 200 and the show has been much appreciated every year by those who attend.”

The Knutsford and District Lions Club meet the cost of staging the event by using a proportion of money raised by the club throughout the year.

“The SCVS stands out as an annual community project where Knutsford Lions provide senior citizens with an entertaining afternoon free of charge and show their commitment to offering help and assistance in the local community and the opportunity to meet residents face to face,” Frances added.

“To those who haven’t been before, there will be a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere to help you enjoy a quality variety show. And it’s free.”

Tickets for the show are now available from Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe and from the Heritage Centre.
