A DEDICATED blood donor from Holmes Chapel has been recognised for rolling up his sleeves to help save lives.

Phillip Carr was honoured at an awards event held by NHS Blood and Transplant at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel in Chester on Friday, November 15. He was joined by other people from across Cheshire and north Wales, with a total of 42 donors receiving crystal awards.

Barbara Blanche, lead donor relations manager at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “We would like to thank these donors for their commitment and dedication. “They are an inspiration to us all and we hope that others will follow in their footsteps to save and improve the lives of many people.”

Each blood donor has potentially saved the lives of up to three people with every donation they have made, so the 42 donors at the ceremony may have helped save or improve up to 9,975 lives between them.

Barbara added: “The more people register and donate the easier it is for us to collect the blood the NHS needs.”
