STRETTON’S young farmers came out top of the pile at an event held at Peover Hall this month.

Tatton Estate Management sponsored this year’s Cheshire Young Farmers Tug of War Competition at The Cheshire Game and Angling Fair’s 30th anniversary event at Peover Hall on August 4.

Stretton Young Farmers tug of war team made the CGAF event their hat-trick win, after proving unbeatable at the Macclesfield Sheepdog Trials, and Congleton County Fair earlier in the weekend.

Knutsford’s deputy mayor Clr Neil Forbes presented the team with their £150 cash prize.

Rob Chadwick, of Stretton Young Farmers, said: “We’ve had a really successful weekend, not losing an end at any event.

“This win just topped it all off, especially as it was the 30th anniversary show.”

Tom Bold, event photographer, captured Sunday’s winning team, which consisted of Sam Williams, Robert Chadwick, Will Burgess, Paul Gerrard, Paul Lancaster and Harry Stubbs.

Other members of the team who were part of the winning weekend were Sam Etchells and Dan Butterworth.
