I ENJOYED last weekend’s light switch on in Knutsford with our real live sheep outside the Methodist Church, but I was surprised by how many people came to ask ‘Are they real sheep?’

They were part of our Sheep and Shops hunt, where young people searched for lost sheep in shops, particularly Norbert (the sheep with an identity crisis) who looks more like a camel.

Norbert had run off to Roberta’s Beauty Salon for a makeover, but thanks to the young people, he is now safely back with his flock.

The Crib Service was also a good way to begin the season of advent together with the churches, Mayor Vivien Davies and Knutsford town councillors all preparing for the coming of Christ at Christmas.

There is now a countdown of shopping days to Christmas and at KMC on Sunday, December 9 at 5.30pm and 7.30pm we are hosting a multimedia celebration event ‘Countdown to Christmas’ with drama, video clips, performance pieces and our favourite carols.

The 5.30pm event is for children, young families and those not wanting to be out late, when there is a specially prepared presentation by the ‘Open the Book’ team who visit a number of our schools.

At 7.30pm the teenagers will be featured more, alongside the humour of the media presentations.

These events will help to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christmas.

And I look forward to meeting people this Christmas time.
