TRADERS at Knutsford’s two-day Christmas market hailed the event as the best yet.

Peta Massey, from Siddington, was at the markets with her Glamourous Accessories stall and said this year’s market had been much better than 2011.

“It’s been a much better opening night and there has been a good atmosphere and a buzz in the air,” she said.

“This year has been much better than last and I think that is down to the quality of the stalls and the entertainment outside as well.”

For Abi Jessup-Neary, 22, and Lucy Wightwick, 23, it was the first time the pair had sold their work at a market.

The pair, from Knutsford and Hale, first met after working together at the Bull’s Head in Mobberley and decided to team up to make crafts, including cards, candles, bags and bunting, which they have been selling at facebook.com/AbiAndLucy.

“We are both very similar and we got talking about it and decided it would be easier to do it together and bounce off each other,” Abi said.

Pam Bates and Gail Jackson were manning the Hollies Farm Shop stall, which has bases in Stretton and Tarporley, and admitted their weekend was more about promotion than selling items.

“We’re just getting the message across about the Hollies as quite a few Knutsford people have been saying they don’t know about us,” Pam said.

“It’s about getting out and about in the community.”

Hamper Heaven owner Phil Cropper travelled from Mawdsley, near Ormskirk to sell his goods and said it was the first time he had been to Knutsford.

“This year we’ve been doing markets to promote our website, lovehamperheaven.co.uk, and we’ve been at Manchester as well as the Tatton Park Food Lovers festival,” he added.

“We’re more at the luxury end of the market and it’s quite an affluent area so we are hoping that is good for us.”
