NO wigs, hats or funny glasses...just Simon Day setting the world to rights.

The Fast Show comedian spoke to the Warrington Guardian before performing his new routine, What a Fool Believes, at the Parr Hall as part of a 38-date UK tour.

But while Simon’s previous standup shows focused on gimmicks and his character creations, this perfomance will be much more personal.

“I’d done that for a long time and I’d got to the point where I didn’t want to be someone else.

"I wanted a chance to say what I thought about the world.”

The first part of the show will be about what shaped the 46-year-old as he was growing up, while the second half will be filled with funny stories about the joys and pitfalls of fame and being recognised.

“It’s a mixed bag,” said Simon, who also appeared in the film Run Fatboy Run.

“The audiences seem to have really enjoyed it so far.

"I was worried they would complain that I wasn’t doing my characters, but they love it.”

Simon, renowned for his portrayal of Dave Angel, the eco warrior, even hinted to the Warrington Guardian that he is working with his Fast Show friends on a new television idea but remained tight lipped about specifics.

In the meantime, look forward to an ‘extremely personal show full of life and sublime comedy’.
