ADAM’S Hill was closed last Saturday afternoon after a milkman was thrown from his horse drawn float.
The incident occurred at the bottom of the hill close to Aldi on Saturday, December 17 at around 1.15pm.
Police told the Guardian that a 78-year-old man was thrown from his horse as the cart was making its way down the street.
The man sustained ‘minor injuries’ but was taken to Macclesfield Hospital to be checked over while the horse fled and eventually came to a halt next to a Black Honda Accord.
Knutsfordians, passers-by and police officers got involved in pushing the cart back up the steep hill leading out of the town centre.
The road was closed for around an hour, eventually reopening at around 2pm.
An eye-witness described the scene, saying: “There was no horse by the time I got there. People had righted the cart so that it was on the pavement. Before that it was sat on the bank.
“There was milk spilt from small bottles of milk that were on the cart. Everyone was trying to get the cart back upright as quickly as possible.”
