GARETH Norbury and Cllr Charlotte Leach are to be commended for campaigning for the urgent review of the speed limit along Town Lane in Mobberley.

Twenty’s Plenty should be the default limit not only on Town Lane but all other residential streets and on Church Lane where Mobberley CofE Primary School is located.

Charlotte has been lobbying hard on this behind the scenes long before the accident which injured Gareth’s son, Charlie recently, but she has been obstructed by, among others, the police and highways authority who seem to prioritise traffic flow at the expense of pedestrian safety.

An added benefit of effective traffic calming would be an improvement in air quality. The toxicity of motor traffic disproportionately affects small children and damages the health of us all – more so, ironically, if we are inside the vehicles that are responsible.
