REGARDING the recent decision taken by Cllrs Coan, Power and the rest of the town council to cancel this year’s reindeer parade, thus disappointing many young children.
Cllr Coan states that the cancellation is due to financial reasons only, but are they just following the trend set by a number of councils throughout the country?
Councils cancelled reindeer parades at short notice last year following issues raised by animal rights’ campaigners.
It is strange that concerned residents are mentioned this year but not in previous years.
May I suggest that Cllrs Coan, Power and other members don reindeer costumes and pull the sleigh themselves.
I am sure that their welfare will be closely monitored along the route by concerned local residents.
Merry Christmas to one and all.
