I WAS honoured to serve Knutsford residents and businesses as a councillor and I was further honoured to serve as its town mayor, a town where I have lived all of my life.

As Mayor I supported our town, its businesses, its townsfolk and raised money for local charities.

I recall that I helped to open Don Giovanni’s restaurant where the then owner Bob very kindly hosted a charity event for my chosen Mayor’s charities along with The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

How delighted I was when Bob contacted me to let me know he was managing Giovanni’s and back in town.

Not only was he back but he was planning another fundraising evening, raffle and auction in aid of The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital again and was pulling it all together in less than two weeks.

My family attended this special, invite-only red carpet event on Sunday and were treated to complimentary food, drinks and wonderful live entertainment by swing singer Paul Pasheby who donated his time in aid of the fundraiser, a man to be applauded.

Bob’s event was again supported by many local people who often give up not only their time but their unfaltering support and kind generosity for such a worthy causes.

To Bob and his team at Giovanni’s and to everyone of you who attended to support this worthy cause to raise so much money, I thank you.
