MOBBERLEY A are the first team to collect 100 points for the season in the Knutsford and District Amateur League’s top tier, writes Tony Crompton.

The Division One leaders did their clubmates’ battle to avoid relegation no favours in a 7-0 success, a margin of victory matched by Royal London A at Wilmslow Cons A.

Elsewhere Tatton lost at Knutsford Cons B.

Morley B continue to lead the way in Division Two winning six of the seven frames against Royal London B, although the contest was a closer one than the result suggests.

It was derby day elsewhere.

Knutsford Cons A edged out their C team, while Wilmslow Cons B beating their C team thanks in part to 101-points frame by Will Bell.

Mobberley C dropped three vital points in beating their D team, Mere B eased past their D team and Shaw Heath B scraped past their clubmates.

Royal London B collected the season’s second piece of silverward on Sunday when they defeated Wilmslow Cons in the final of the Surridge Three Man team competition.

They had to wait until late to capture the trophy though, settling the outcome on the final pink of the contest’s last frame.

John Gillespie, Kenny Knight and Ian Willson made up Royal’s trio, defeating Mere and Royal London A en route to the final at Mobberley.

Meanwhile Steve Bond, Tony Crompton, Paul Hart and Jonathan Smith will face off for the Jay Trophy on finals night at the Tatton Club in April.

The quartet came through this week’s last eight to keep alive their chances of finishing as top dog.

Crompton has already won one title to date this term.
