TOFT’S cricketers have pledged their faith to skipper Toby Drummond as was picked to continue at the helm for next summer’s ECB Premier Division campaign.

The Knutsford outfit finished in ninth place, six points above the relegation zone, last term.

“Our aim is to survive again,” said Drummond upon his appointment.

There have been changes off the square too as Norman Ryan became only the second member in the Booth Park club’s history to be appointed a patron as a reward for his near half-century years of service.

Chairman John Reed has taken over as president, leaving veteran first teamer Nigel Muirhead as the new executive chairman of a smaller club committee.

“It’s a great time to take over,” he said.

“Both Norman and John have been real stalwarts here, and I feel honoured to be following them.

“We know we face many challenges to maintain our status as a top flight club but we remain determined to focus on doing the right things well.

“That includes providing an opportunity for as many people as possible to play cricket in the town, irrespective of their age or ability.”

The calendar year closes with Knutsford band Roped In playing at the club on Friday, followed by an informal Christmas Cracker event for a families from midday on Sunday.

Entrance is free.
