PAUL Makinson passed 100 points in his frame as Morley A returned to the top of the Knutsford and District Amateur League heading into the winter break, writes Tony Crompton.

The champions racked up 484 points as they whitewashed relegation favourites Mere A, the fifth highest aggregate total in the competition’s history.

Their opponents’ 151 points in reply is the fifth lowest.

Fellow Division One title chasers Mobberley A were winners against Knutsford Cons B, while Royal London A recorded the week’s second whitewash against Wilmslow Cons A.

Brook Street A edged out their clubmates in their derby duel to put seven points between them and the two relegation places.

There were derby wins for Mobberley D and Knutsford Cons A in Division Two, Andy Davies’ 32-break helping the former to victory against Mobberley C.

Mere D thrashed Mere B too.

Elsewhere Mobberley B lost at home to Shaw Heath – for whom Dave Rainford cued a 34-break - while Wilmslow Cons B and Morley B scored the week’s other wins.

The league programme resumes on Tuesday, January 5.
